Before you go saying, hey Sean, why are you posting some Prime Day affiliate link post…there are no affiliate links, I just went down a rabbit hole of looking at balls that happened to be part of their sale today and thought I’d share what I found.
Chrome Tour for $32.15 a dozen. Chrome Tour X for $32.15. Vice Pro Plus for $29.95.
Then I opened the MyGolfSpy data, and buying a dozen golf balls became a slightly larger project.
I currently play the Titleist AVX. I’ve also played the Maxfli Tour X. So when I saw a 12.4-yard gap between Chrome Soft and Maxfli Tour X in MyGolfSpy’s mid-speed 7-iron results, I stopped scrolling. Same test setup. 165.5 yards of carry versus 153.1 (I know…the 0.1 really makes a difference).
That’s enough to make me want to understand what else changes when I change the ball.
For the deals I was considering, I narrowed the comparison to Chrome Tour, Chrome Tour X and Vice Pro Plus, with AVX as the reference.
One important shopping caveat: the table below uses 2026 test data, and I couldn’t confirm that the Callaway and Vice sale listings are the exact generations tested. Keep that in mind when comparing the numbers. I also looked at the Q-Star Tour Divide at $23.99, but the matte version on sale appears to be an older generation; the current version has a glossy finish
Four balls and three different shots

A few things caught my attention.
Chrome Tour looks familiar on full-shot carry. Its driver and iron numbers are almost identical to AVX. But its 35-yard wedge spin was lower.
Chrome Tour X gained about five yards with the driver and gave up about five with the iron. It also produced the most wedge spin of these four. That’s a tradeoff worth understanding before buying several boxes.
Vice Pro Plus had the highest iron spin here, but less wedge spin than AVX. The spin ranking changes with the shot.
That last part is why I wanted all three shots in one chart. A driver-distance number tells me very little about the approach shot that follows it.
I ordered a box of each, and will just try them all out at some point.
The Amazon links
Prices checked October 6, 2026. The three sale offers below were Prime-exclusive, new dozens, sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Prices, availability and delivery dates can change.
Titleist AVX — 2026 model, $49.99, included as the reference rather than a verified Prime discount
Check the selected version and quantity before ordering. The Callaway and Vice sale listings’ generations remain unconfirmed.
For now, the chart gives me better questions to take to a ball comparison. Starting with what happens after the tee shot.
