Review: Adams Idea Pro Gold Irons

With Tom Watson’s unbelievable run at The Open Championship behind us, many golfers are asking, what irons does a 59 year old guy play to get him into a playoff in a major at his age? Turns out that Tom Watson had been playing an early prototype of what would eventually become the Idea Pro Gold iron. However, the A-Tours are a very demanding set of irons, built specifically for Tom Watson’s needs on the course. Adams set out to turn the A-Tours into a playable set of clubs for the better amateur player, and thus became the Idea Pro Forged irons. In 2008, Adams made some changes to both the Idea Pro irons and hybrids, integrating their Boxer technology into the hybrids and making some tweaks to the irons with the input of the Adams tour players.

Review: Mizuno MP-52 Irons

If you have followed The Deep Rough over the years, you know that I am a huge fan of Mizuno irons. The first set of Mizunos I had played were the MX-23s, then I moved onto the buttery soft, absolute dream of a club, the MP-33 irons. About a year ago, I got my hands on the MP-57 irons, a set we reviewed and found to be a great combination of buttery soft feel and playable forgiveness. While not as soft as the MP-33s, they let you get away with some slightly off swings.

TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company, the world’s leading maker of metalwoods, today announced it will produce a limited number of special-edition Patriot Golf Day drivers in hopes of helping the Folds of Honor Foundation raise more than $1 million during its Patriot Golf Day fundraising event. We have been using the Clicgear 2.0 for about a month now, and have put together a detailed review of these improvements and the overall performance of the cart.

Review: Heavy Putter C2-DF

If you are a long time reader of The Deep Rough, you know I am absolutely in love with my B3-M Heavy Putter. Earlier this year, Heavy Putter released a new line of Deep Faced putters. The Deep Face raises the center of gravity of the putter, aligning it closer to the equator of a golf ball. This should result in more consistent strikes on the sweet spot of the putter face. So let’s have a look at the Heavy Putter C2-DF and see how it compares to the earlier generation Heavy Putters.

Review: TaylorMade Tour Burner

TaylorMade launch the new Tour Burner line of equipment earlier this Spring with a spirited marketing campaign. The Burner Bloodline website provides great detail and insight into this tour like line of equipment. Unlike the Tour Authentic line from Callaway, the Tour Burner series is not about bringing extremely high priced actual Tour equipment to the hands of the weekend golfer, but about bringing Tour like performance to the rest of us. Can a piece of equipment give us a ball flight like TaylorMade Staffer Sergio Garcia?

Golf Push Cart Roundup

Buggies, trolleys, push carts…golfers from around the world have many names for these two or three wheeled devices to help lug those clubs around the course. Anyone who has pulled a two wheel cart behind them for 18 holes knows that process can be more trouble than it’s worth. The three wheeled push cart has helped transform the task from a painful experience to an easier walk in the park. Over the next week, we will be posting detailed reviews of a couple of the more popular push cart options available. Today we will have a quick look at the carts involved.
