Golfing at Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island

My wife’s birthday is in Mid-August and we decided to go on a little 4 day golf getaway to celebrate. Yes, I am lucky enough to be married to someone who loves golf nearly as much as I do! We had a few golf destinations in mind, but ultimately decided on Hilton Head as it is a pretty short flight from New Jersey and had some great deals. Some might think, South Carolina in August, are you crazy? Well, yeah, it was in the mid 80s…not so bad, but the humidity was insane. And here I thought it got humid in New Jersey…yeah right…when they say 100% humidity..they mean it.

Clarity and Confidence

I played over at The Architects Golf Club this weekend, and it was a pretty eye-opening experience for me. First of all, it’s a wonderful course. The fairways, tees and greens are all in superb shape and the rough is thick and quite penal (even for those of us with Square Grooves). [...]

Weekend of Golf

So, my last few rounds (prior to this weekend) were pretty darn good. 76 (+5) last Sunday at Spooky Brook, 36 (E) on Monday at Quail Brook, then a 34 (-1) at Green Knoll on Tuesday from the tips. First time I broke par on 9 holes, here I am thinking I’m figuring [...]

Breaking 80 – New Low Round

Absolutely perfect weather today, low 80’s, crystal clear skies, low humidity and just a slight breeze. My wife and friend Tim headed over to Spooky Brook golf course for an early afternoon round. I decided to play with an old set of Adams Idea A1 Pro Irons I had down in the basement. [...]

Off to Salt Lake City

I’m headed out to Salt Lake City, Utah this afternoon for a couple days. Work related, and unfortunately, no time for golf Should be nice though, I hear it’s gorgeous, and this will be my first trip. Hope the weather holds up for Friday as I’ll have an hour or [...]

First Goal of 2007 Complete – Broke 80

So I played 18 yesterday at Quail Brook and low and behold, counting up my score on the way to the parking lot I shot a 79…woohooo!
I knew I was playing alright, having carded a couple birdies and a bunch of pars. But I really wasn’t giving any thought to my total score at [...]

Flanders Valley – Gold Course

Beautiful weather we had here in New Jersey this past weekend, it appears as if Spring has finally arrived. With some warmer weather late in the week, the higher lying areas have had a chance to dry out a little, so I managed to sneak out for a few hours and fit in 9 [...]

10 Ways to Fill a Golf Ball with Nougat

So, back from the West Palm Beach trip. Was a brief trip, but we had a nice time. Got to get out and play on a couple courses (North Palm Beach Country Club and The Golf Club of Jupiter). The NPBCC course was quite nice, though quite difficult. Recently redesigned by [...]
