Tom, that's odd. I have had the V2 for over two years now. Still working well, no battery change. Though I do not play nearly as much as you!

I've had the v2 for a year and a half and love how it works. But I was going through a battery every two or three months. I golf about 4 times a week. The manual said the batteries should last a year. I called Bushnell and sent it back. They said the auto shut off wasn't working. They sent a new one. Its doing the same thing. I've asked four other guys who use them too and they all said their batteries only last about 3 months. One friend had to buy a rechargeable type battery for his. I'm going to get one also as I think this is a flaw in the v2. Hope they fix this problem because at $10 a battery its too costly.

I bought the Tour V1 which was replaced under warranty with the Tour V2. I play about 3 rounds a month and the battery on the V2 lasted exactly a year. The lithium camera battery costs about 8 bucks.

I've seen lots of good and bad reviews of this product on various websites and I can't understand the reasons why...

I'm a very low handicap golfer and have been using this exact model for some months. I know exactly how far I hit every club in my bag including my driver and this rangefinder is scary in how exact it is. I can take a yardage and know that if I hit the ball properly I will be exactly pin high every time.

Well worth the investment and will speed up your game if you use it properly. And by that I mean getting ranges to carry obstacles as well as those to the pin itself. That 'carry' yardage is the one that is always neglected and something that is more use than anything else. And rarely available on GPS.

Took your advice and got the V2 instead of the Medallist or a GPS. It's very simple and easy to use. It just requires a little understanding of how it works (like any rangefinder does and as explained in the instructions), so that one is reading the yardage to the correct object, especially in the Pinseeker mode. I can't picture how anyone can regret buying this model.

I am a walker too. The V2 is lightweight and the magnetic cover on the carrying case works very well, so that the case does not need to be zipped shut while walking a round.

I don't know how I ever played without a rangefinder before. It really speeds up play too.
