Dimple-Less Golf Ball: Eliminate Hooks and Slices

ORLANDO, Fla – January 15,2008 – If you are a serious, low handicap golfer, distance is all important. Now, for the rest of us, Caesar Golf Company has introduced a revolutionary new ball that helps golfers consistently hit straight shots. It has no dimples. The smooth surface on the Featherie eliminates hooks and slices.

“Dimples create lift at high velocities, increasing distance the ball will fly, but they are also responsible for side spin, a major cause of hooks and slices,” explains Vin Lee, founder, Caesar Golf Company. “This ball flies straight. It lets the golfer do strategic shot placement.”

Designed for Par 3 or 4 courses, private resort and executive courses, Caesar Golf’s new smooth surface ball gives golfers more control. It hits well off the tee with a high lofting wood or hybrid. It’s great for golfers with a slower swing. On a dog leg, it will keep the golfer out of the rough.

Named for the original feather-stuffed ball used when the game was invented, The Featherie is spectacular for fairway shots because it flies straight. For the first time, golfers can set up their line of sight and expect the ball to go where they want it to go. Chip shots drop on a green like a normal ball, but the golfer doesn’t have to plan for as much break on the green.

On the green, with no dimple geometry reacting to blades of grass, the Featherie putts like a cue ball on a pool table.

In fact, the Caesar was invented by a pool player who can also fire a small handicap round of golf. One day, while absent-mindedly rolling a standard golf ball with his hand across the pool table in his living room, Lee noticed a slight wobble from the indentations created by the dimple pattern and the ball stopped just to the left of the pocket. He picked up a cue ball and watched roll swiftly and surely, right into the cup. Three years later, the Caesar Featherie was born.

Caesar Golf’s new ball made the old fashioned way, with a solid core. It has the same weight and dimensions of a regulation ball.

Caesar Featheries are available from Cayman Golf (www.caymangolf.com) or directly from the company’s website at www.caesargolfcompany.com for $30 a sleeve of three balls.

  1. How far will the ball fly. I thought I read an article at one point saying that a dimpleless ball wouldn’t go any further than about 70 yards.

  2. From the people at Caeser:

Just a reminder: The Caesar Featherie golf ball is not designed to be a distance, performance ball for short handicappers. It’s designed for the golfer who is concerned about accuracy, over distance. What the smooth surface does do, is eliminate hooks and slices.

Off the tee, use a higher lofting club. The ball will not fly as far, but it will roll well. Where you will really love this ball, is 100 yards out from the cup. Chip shots fly straight. On the green, the Caesar putts like a dream

The Caesar ball is perfect for par 3 or executive courses and for golfers with a slower swing. Used as a ball for teaching, the Caesar makes learning golf less frustrating for those new to the sport.

That being said, I hope to get my hands on a sleeve of them soon, and I’ll see about the distance. I had heard about 50-75% of your usual distance. But that’s 2nd hand information.

  3. It looks like the only tough spot for this ball is when tees are set back and the hole requires good carry. Putts must roll pretty smooth though.

  6. I was sent a couple sleeves of these balls to try out and I posted a review about it on my blog I linked the post to my name, so click on my name to view it). You are correct about the distance, you lose at least 50% of your distance when you hit your driver and the percentage decreases the lower loft club you hit. I’ve read the max the ball has been hit is 200 yards. Ideally off the tee you hit this ball with a 3 wood. It’s definitely an interesting ball/concept, the ball flight is crazy to watch too. They’re supposed to be coming out with the Caesar Millie for the lower handicap golfers…
