I was looking for some videos on proper position of one’s left elbow during the backswing. After reading a bunch of stuff, I realized, it’s probably not something I should ever really think about. I just end up getting confused. In the process, I was searching through YouTube for videos of positions and came across a couple nice videos. One on compressing the golf ball:
and one on Pronation and Supination (bowing/cupping the wrist):
The videos are done by Shawn Clement, the Director of the Richmond Hill Golf Learning Centre. He has a whole bunch of videos on YouTube. I haven’t watched all of them, but I’m sure there are some other interesting tips.
One thing that was interesting to me, was the bit about gravity working the club in the Compressing video.

I like the thoughts about gravity in the compressing video. Along those lines, I was taught that at the top of the swing when you’re on plane, the club should feel “light”. When you’re in that proper slot, the feel of gravity and momentum is not noticeable in your hands. When the club gets out of the proper slot and is excessively laid off or upright, you can really feel the force of gravity on the club trying to turn your hands and the like.
Nice videos!
