Saw this on FOXNews.com, thought it was pretty amusing. I can just imagine being on the tee box on one of the holes….ok so we have water right, bunkers at 275, and…umm…Jim…is that fire left?
MEDFORD, Ore. — There’s sand, water and the rough to give golfers fits. So, it wasn’t that big a hazard when a grass fire broke out between the sixth and seventh holes of the Centennial Golf Course.
Smoke was visible for miles as firefighters fought the blaze Thursday, but golfers still buzzed around in their carts or focused on their putts.
The 1.5-acre fire burned a weedy area between the two holes of the course, which is next to the Rogue Valley Manor retirement home.
“This fire moved 100 feet in 60 seconds,” said Jim Pawlak of Berkeley, Calif.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze within about 20 minutes. Investigators were still looking for a cause.
“I was really playing well until this happened,” joked Pawlak.
