Phil, the Arm Chair Golfer has a new gig, he’ll be writing a blog, Down The Middle for the Most Valuable Network. This is a great step for Phil and it’s nice to see MVN recognizing his blogging talents. Congrats to you Phil! Be sure to check both of his sites out.
Back to my game, played 9 holes over at Flanders Valley last night, shot a 42 (+6). Had a nice little string of pars in the middle. For the most part I was striking the ball pretty well. Had an awful shanked 5 iron on one of the par fives, but recovered quite well with a great 8 iron over the tree line (from the neighboring fairway).
Two great shots of the day:
First, the dogleg left par 4, 4th hole. The hole reads 350 yards, but I assume it’s a fair amount less if you cut the corner, bombing over the trees. Which, of course, I tried…and did. Ended up about 10 yards off the green. Tough chip though, ended up just behind the hole on the fringe, 2 putts…par…how sad.
Second, My tee shot on number 9. A dogleg left about 379 into a 10-15mph cross wind. Hit a nice little draw 3 iron. Ended up just outside the 150 marker. Though, I proceeded to chunk my second shot, as I was trying to keep it low in the dead on wind now. 3rd shot, a wedge, was decent, 2 putts, bogey..how sad.
I used a Sonartec MD 2 iron on about 4 shots today as well. Looks interesting so far, nice ball flight, nice feel at impact. I’ll be doing a complete review of this club shortly.

Thanks for your support, Sean. Also, way to bomb that drive on a 350-yard par-4!
