Post Christmas Report

As Balls Out Blog was so kind to point out, I was a little lazy over the Christmas break here, and randomly posted up a Nike Sumo press release for some ‘content’. Please pardon the lack of creativity and content! Though, I thought the Golf Club Distance Calculator was a pretty big release for The Deep Rough! Golf Heaven and GolfScribe were nice enough to take notice.

So, the first married Christmas went quite well. The weather here in New Jersey was quite nice, so my wife, father and I managed to get some golf in. We headed over to Bamm Hollow Country Club to play nine holes on the Blue Course. I find myself complaining that golf season is over, and that I haven’t had much of a chance to play…but over the past month I have gotten a fair amount of golf in. It has been quite a treat.

It was very windy on Christmas Eve, so the round was certainly interesting. But, I did manage a birdie on the par 4 7th hole, a tight dogleg left with some water in play. Considering there were no flags in the cups, a birdie was more luck than anything else. Much to my surprise, when I walked up to the green, my wedge shot was about 2 feet right of the hole.

Since I had so much fun with the Callaway Big Bertha 2006 irons on our honeymoon, my wife got me a 2 iron from that set for Christmas. I used it with varying degrees of success on Christmas Eve. Great looking club, though next to an MP-33 2 iron it looks enormous! I am excited to play around with it more at the driving range. Hopefully it can turn into a nice driving iron for me.

I also received some golf balls and a neat little golf spike tool. I was having a heck of a time removing the worn out spikes from my Tour 360 shoes, so hopefully this tool can help solve that dilemma.

  3. Congrats on your first married Christmas, sounds like it was a good one. Isn’t it awesome to be able to play golf through December? Here in CT we’re loving it. The Distance Calculator IS awesome. I haven’t gotten a chance to try it out yet but will soon. As for the Sumo paste-up content…we all do that from time to time. If it’s a pertinent, interesting bit of info and you’re ultra busy with something else, the occasional paste-up or phone-in is much better than just nothing. Anyway, I read the Sumo press release on your site, not elsewhere, so for me it was content. Cheers.
