Honeymoon Golf

Well, we just got back from our honeymoon. Lucky for me, I married someone who loves golf as much as I do. So we managed to fit 3 rounds of golf into our trip to Cancun and San Diego. I will post some more details later, but I just wanted to post up a few pictures from the courses we played. We played twice at Playa Mujeres Golf Club, about 25 minutes from the ’strip’ in Cancun. Beautiful Greg Norman designed, Troon Golf operated course, pristine condition, and quite challenging wind conditions.

We rented clubs on the trip, as carrying two sets of clubs on our honeymoon did not seem so appealing. The clubs at Playa Mujeres were nice, Callaway Big Bertha’s and X series fairway woods/driver:

Here is a view of the 18th hole from the tee. The building in the distance is the small, but quite interesting, clubhouse. The entire area is under heavy development, I’m sure in a year or so it will be quite the destination.

After 5 days in Mexico, we headed to San Diego for a few days. We stayed at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, and managed to get a 10am tee time on The South Course at Torrey Pines on a Saturday. Considering there was an International Junior Golf Tour tournament on the North Course, getting off on The South Course was quite the treat.

While the club rentals at Torrey Pines were nothing to write home about, the course is truly amazing. This was our first time playing the course, and wow. If you have the opportunity, you MUST get to this course. The views alone are worth it.

I will try to post more detailed reviews soon. For now, there is much laundry to do!
