Wow, so after a round at Green Knoll on Labor Day morning, I come home, turn on the TV and see Tiger at -14 after 7 holes? Wow…he has been in quite the zone the past 5 tournaments.
Well, the rain continued here through Saturday. We had to cancel a tee time early Saturday as Tropical Storm Ernesto pretty much wiped out any possiblity of hitting little white balls. He was supposed to linger about until Sunday afternoon, but alas, we awoke Sunday morning to clear skies!
We played over at Neshanic Valley Golf Course on Sunday morning, and had a pretty fun time. The weather was beautiful, the course was in pretty good shape considering all the rain we had. The rough was very deep. And well, I felt like I hadn’t played in ages, so things were a little out of whack. Few lost balls here and there in the very deep rough and fescue, and well, that always leads to an awful score. That round ended at 89.
Monday at Green Knoll was slightly better, finished with a 41 on the back. Though, lost balls on the front contributed to a start of 47. The back nine, things started to feel like they were coming together again. So that’s good.
Unfortunately, it really does feel like golf season is starting to come to an end here in Jersey. The sun is rising later and disappearing earlier in the evening. I’ll need to find myself some drills and core exercises I can work on this offseason to help me out for next year!
Looks like Thomas Bjorn is a little miffed at Westwood for being passed over as a Captain’s pick for the European Ryder Cup team.
