Wow, four bogies in a row for Tiger Woods today. For a while there I was begining to think Davis Love III might get himself setup in a perfect position for tomorrow. But alas, Tiger is Tiger and he worked through his issues, started sinking some putts, and is probably primed for another run at yet another PGA win. And then there is DLIII, who pulled his usual trick of late. If it continues to rain here in New Jersey, I’m sure I’ll be watching it unfold. Do I see Stewart Cink maintaining the lead? hah.
So the early tee time this morning was cancelled, as it was raining cats and dogs this morning. We did head over to the driving range, however. With all this conservative golf lately, I have neglected my woods and hybrid. I find that my iron swing is pretty solid now, but for whatever reason, I take such a different approach to the woods. I guess part of it is the sweeping thought verse the striking down on the ball. But, I’m not sure why I should not just be swinging exactly the same way. So I worked on that for a while today with the 2 iron hybrid (taylor made rescue dual) I have. I had limited success with this. Subconsciously I believe I am still trying to use this different swing. I will get over it at some point, I hope.
I did smack a few balls with the driver as well, and they were pretty nice shots. Straight, long bombs. I may try to add that to the mix again every now and then. My problem is, I find myself wanting to pull it out on every single tee. If I could limit myself to using the driver on long par 4s and par 5s, where it would put me in a good position, and not completely ruin the hole if the shot was slightly off line…then fine.
The rains are forecasted to continue tomorrow, so perhaps it will be another day at the driving range.
