Last night a friend of mine and I went to hit some balls over at Quail Brook. The twilight rate starts at 5:30 PM, and only costs you $10 (if you are a Somerset County resident). If you recall, I have my low round at this course, 82, back a few weeks. So I definitely enjoy playing here!
Well, last night was no exception. We only got the front 9 in, as sunset keeps getting earlier and earlier. But I was striking the ball great, and carded a 37 (+1). Yup, wow…my lowest 9 ever, by far. 2 Birdies, 4 Pars, 3 Bogies. I managed this with the driver, 3 wood, hybrid in the trunk. 3-PW, 52, 58, putter. I had a few inconsistent rounds there, but I think what brought me back was thinking back to this Ben Hogan golf swing video. The little motion of turning the hips first, and coming down is such a great visual for me.
Quail Brook is a decent course for a municipal course. Interesting holes, the front nine is pretty open, while the back nine is pretty tight. The fairways are getting a little chewed up now, and the greens are pretty slow and beaten up. But, still, for $10, you really can’t beat the deal.
We have a tee-time Saturday morning, and I can hardly wait! Hopefully this feeling can stick with me for a few more days!
On another note, I’ve added My Daily Slice to the mix here. He’s got a great post about the greatness of Tiger Woods up on his site now.

well unfortunately looks like it’s going to rain here all weekend…so no golf for me. hit the driving range this morning, trying to work on some confidence with my 2 iron hybrid. I haven’t used it a whole lot lately, so, I don’t feel too comfortable using it now..
