New Golf Articles and Conservative Golf Continues

I’ve added a few new articles to the Golf Articles section of The Deep Rough, be sure to check them out. In addition to a few by contributing authors, I have added one of my own, detailing my experiences with playing a style.

Last night I played 9 holes over at , a Morris County golf course. It apparently was rated a “Top 75 Public Courses” by Golf Digest, and it showed. It’s a 36 hole golf club that looks more like a semi-private or private country club than a municipal golf course. If you’re in north/central New Jersey, I’d definitely suggest checking it out. Make sure you get yourself a tee-time though. There were about 15-20 people waiting around ‘on the board’ to tee off. At $12 after 4pm, it’s quite the bargain as well!

I stuck with my approach, playing my 3, 4 or 5 iron off the tee, and again, it worked out quite well. I shot a 4 over, 40 on the White Course. I ended up with 5 pars, and 4 bogies. Two of those bogies were the result of the dreaded three putt. Now that I’m keeping the ball in the fairway, and hitting a fair number of greens in regulation, it may soon be time to focus on my putting game! The highlight of the afternoon was the ~550 yard par 5 which I hit 3 iron, 6 iron, 6 iron, and just lipped out a birdie putt.

Be sure to check out Coach Karen’s article on Getting Started with your Golf Goals over at Golf As You Wish. It’s a great read!
